Aristocrat LED Lighting Upgrade Across Office and Warehouse

Context

Aristocrat is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of gaming and slot machines, with a significant operational presence in London. Intersafe had already established a working relationship with Aristocrat through the delivery of fixed wire testing and remedial repairs at their London office. When the question of lighting came up, Aristocrat turned to Intersafe, their technical office was poorly lit and characterised by inconsistent light levels across the space.

Challenge

The lighting upgrade presented both a practical improvement challenge and a need to make a compelling case for change:

  • Poor and uneven lighting affecting working conditions: The existing lighting in Aristocrat's technical office created an uncomfortable working environment, with inconsistent patches of lighter and darker areas that affected both the feel of the space and the conditions in which staff were working day to day.

  • Making the business case for LED investment: Aristocrat needed to understand the financial return. The cost of new luminaires and installation had to be justified through demonstrable energy savings, with a clear timeline for payback.

  • Extending the scope to the warehouse as well as offices: Once the case for the office upgrade was made, Aristocrat wanted to extend the programme to their warehouse. The solution needed to be scalable and deliver the same quality of light distribution across a larger, more complex space.

Solution

Intersafe, part of Complii, took a consultative approach, providing Aristocrat with the evidence and insight they needed to make a confident decision, before a single fitting was changed:

  • Free lighting audit and bespoke lighting plan: Intersafe carried out a complimentary lighting audit of the technical office, developing a detailed lighting plan that identified the optimal positioning of new luminaires to achieve an even, well-balanced spread of light throughout the space.

  • Payback Prediction to quantify the return: Alongside the lighting plan, Intersafe presented a Payback Prediction - a financial model calculating the energy cost savings generated by switching from fluorescent and halogen lamps to LED technology. The analysis showed the full cost of lights and installation would be recovered within 18 months, giving Aristocrat the confidence to proceed.

  • Scope extended to warehouse following initial approval: The strength of the proposal and Aristocrat's own sustainability commitments led directly to the decision to extend the LED upgrade beyond the office to the warehouse as well.

  • Works carried out quickly and efficiently: Once approved, the installation was completed promptly and with minimal disruption to Aristocrat's operations, with the process clearly explained and managed throughout.

Results

The LED upgrade delivered a measurable improvement to Aristocrat's working environment and a clear, quantified return on investment:

  • A brighter, more consistent working environment: The new LED lighting transformed both spaces, eliminating the dull, uneven light that had characterised the office and lifting the overall feel for staff working across the site.

  • Energy savings with an 18-month payback: The switch to LED technology delivered the energy cost savings projected in the Payback Prediction, with the full investment in lights and installation on course to be recovered within 18 months.

  • A trusted relationship extended: The project was built directly on Intersafe's existing relationship with Aristocrat, with the client's confidence in Intersafe's approach leading to an expanded scope and a strengthened long-term partnership.

“The new LED lighting has made a significant difference to our working environment — it is lighter, brighter and has lifted the whole feel of the office. It is important to us that we operate in an environmentally conscious way, so knowing that this improvement also saves energy makes it a double win. The whole process was explained clearly from the start; we were really impressed with the proposal and the work was carried out quickly and efficiently.”
